You will also need to arrange transport or someone to drive you home after your appointment as your eyes may be dilated during your time with us.
You do not need anyone to stay for your appointment and consultation but are welcome to have someone attend with you would like this support.
What to expect at your first consultation
After registering at reception, you will be seen by one of our clinical staff who will take your medical and ophthalmic history, check your vision, measure your intraocular pressure, and dilate your pupils. Based on the assessment, additional diagnostic testing and imaging may be required.
One of our ophthalmologists will then examine your eyes and discuss your eye health and appropriate treatment plan.
We understand your time is valuable and every effort is made to keep appointment times. However patient medical needs are unpredictable and therefore your appointment may be later than scheduled.
We recommend bringing a pair of sunglasses with you to help you with glare and light sensitivity after your appointment.
We recommend that you allow being at our practice for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, to allow time for all tests to be performed, your pre-assessment and consultation with our ophthalmologist, as well as sufficient time for eye drops administered to take effect.
Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment
Please let us know at least two (2) days in advance if you wish to reschedule or cancel an appointment so we may be able to offer this appointment to another patient.
Consultation fees and payment options
Payment for consultations is required in full at the time of consultation and can be made with cash, EFTPOS, or credit card.
Payment by cards will attract varying cost of acceptance (1.5% -2.5%).
The consultation fee is claimable from Medicare if you have a current referral letter from either your specialist, GP or optometrist.
There are certain tests however that may not be covered by either your health fund or Medicare.
